About The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau

The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for collecting delinquent taxes for the County Treasurer, school districts, townships, and boroughs. After collections, the funds are dispersed to the appropriate taxing bodies. The Washington County Tax Claim Bureau provides tax information regarding delinquencies to banking institutions, real estate agencies, attorneys, etc., as well as to individuals and title searchers. The bureau conducts tax sales as prescribed by law.

Washington County does NOT maintain an excess fund list. All monies are distributed to owner(s) or to the Municipalities after 3 years.

The PAHAF Assistance Program has begun the process of application intake as of March 1, 2024. If you have already applied for assistance, please be sure to follow up with your PAHAF caseworker about the status of your case or call the PAHAF Call Center immediately at 888-987-2423. Regardless of your status with PAHAF, the Washington County Tax Claim Bureau will continue with all future sale proceedings. If you are expecting delinquent tax relief, please follow up with your assigned PAHAF caseworker. If your parcel was unsold at the 2023 Upset &/or 2023 Adjournment Sale, you can still redeem your parcel from further tax sale exposure on June 26, 2024:

• You must redeem your parcel in full by paying any delinquent balance on file in our department. We are not able to offer payment plans or any partial payment arrangements per the Real Estate Tax Sale Law (RETSL). 
• You will NOT be able to redeem your parcel online. You must either mail in your full payment or bring the payment directly to the Washington County Treasurer for payment processing. The Washington County Treasurer is located at 95 W. Beau St, Ste. 130, Washington, PA 15301 and is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Personal checks or personal business checks will NOT be accepted for full redemption of sale parcels. Accepted payments are cash, money orders, cashier's checks, or attorney's checks. 

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: DELINQUENT TAX PAYMENTS are collected Monday-Friday, 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M in the Washington County Treasurer's Office located at 95 W. Beau St, Ste. 130, Washington, PA 15301.
