The Washington County District Attorney is seeking a full-time Assistant District Attorney for the Juvenile Court Division.  This position is responsible for prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases involving juveniles. The successful applicant will work closely with the staff of Juvenile Court, the Juvenile Probation Office, local school representatives, and various agencies to ensure that the community is protected and the interests of the juvenile are served.

The Assistant District Attorney shall perform professional legal work in the evaluation, processing, and prosecution of criminal cases to a fair and just disposition in the Washington County Juvenile Court system. The Assistant District Attorney will develop trial strategy for cases, determine sentence recommendations, and attend various court calendars.  The Assistant District Attorney will be responsible for ascertaining the facts of the case, working closely with law enforcement, secure expert testimony and prepare witnesses for trial.  The ideal candidate must be proficient in legal research and be able to communicate effectively.  The ability to work independently and in a team setting when needed is also necessary. 

Minimum requirements include being in good standing and admitted to practice before the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits, offering an exciting opportunity to gain valuable legal experience while serving Washington County. Starting salary of $77,554.

The Washington County Public Defender’s office is seeking to hire a PT Assistant Public Defender to primarily represent indigent defendants during preliminary hearings and clients at mental health commitment hearings.

 

A Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in Pennsylvania (member of the Pennsylvania Bar) are required, as is prior experience as an attorney.  A thorough knowledge of the law, the court system and legal proceedings is essential, as is the ability to perform legal research.  The incumbent must remain current in the law through continuing education.  The incumbent will deal directly with inmates, frequently in the Correctional Facility, and must be aware of the physical risks that may be involved. Computer skills are necessary.  A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary, as this position requires traveling to magistrate offices throughout the county. 

 

Schedule – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Every other Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Starting salary - $54,287.80

The Child & Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) Coordinator position helps children and their families with mental health concerns in Washington Co.  This county level position facilitates carious meetings and works closely with school districts, providers, and families to ensure appropriate services and resources are in place for adolescents with complex needs. They assist in developing Individualized Plans of Action with the child, family and multi systems involved, to assure that the family has the least restrictive services in place. CASSP Coordinator monitors and coordinator the services for families in the mental health program and assures that the program meets the CASSP principles. They work closely with the Child and Adolescent Director to identify mental health focused training opportunities and cross system collaboration amongst services and community members in Washington County.  The position also provides technical assistance to contract and service providers, interprets rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and provides advice regarding overall policies and program objectives.

 

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of professional level experience in the field of mental health OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.

The position directs behavioral health Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Services and develops and implements contractual expectations as it pertains to those services, as well as, directs inpatient hospitalization Mental Health Delegate duties and responsibilities in accordance with all laws and regulations.  In addition, the position represents the BHDS Program at meetings with agency advisory boards, community organizations, task forces, committees, ad hoc community groups and federal, state and county officials as it pertains to behavioral crisis, emergency and disaster planning.  In addition to supervising departmental staff, the position is responsible for serving as a member of the Washington County SWAT Team to represent and respond to SWAT call in order to assist with the mental health support needed on site.

 

The position requires one (1) year as a County Mental Health Program Specialist 2; OR five (5) years of professional level experience in the field of mental health, including three (3) years of administrative, supervisory, or consultative work; and a bachelor’s degree; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
