Washington County Recycling

  • Statewide recycling in Pennsylvania began in 1988 with the Municipal Waste Planning Recycling and Waste Reduction Act (Act 101) that requires larger municipalities to recycle. (DEP website, 2012)
  • In Washington County, there are eleven (11) mandated communities that must offer curbside recycling to its residents. In addition, there are two (2) communities that voluntarily offer curbside recycling to its residents.
  • Washington County has created the Washington County Recycling Facilities Directory, a list of drop-off locations throughout the county, as well as out-of-county options. Washington County Recycling Facilities Directory PDF
