NOTICE: Inmate Records Access Restricted 

Effective immediately, the Washington County Correctional Facility will no longer release inmate records to the public, in accordance with legal guidance and applicable privacy protections.

This change aligns with recent legal determinations regarding the handling and disclosure of correctional facility records, including rulings such as Mezzacappa v. Northampton County. These decisions affirm the importance of balancing transparency with the constitutional and statutory rights of individuals housed in our facility.

 What This Means:

• Individual inmate records (including booking photos, charges, housing status, and release dates) will no longer be provided in response to public requests.
• Requests submitted under the Right-to-Know Law (or equivalent public records law) may be denied if the records are deemed exempt under law or court order.
• Law enforcement and legal representatives may still access necessary records through appropriate channels.

 Why This Change?

This policy is intended to:

• Comply with current legal standards concerning privacy and due process
• Protect inmates from potential reputational harm or harassment
• Prevent misuse of sensitive correctional information
